Kunafa Trifle with Strawberries

Ingredients

  • 4 cups milk
  • 6 tablespoons custard powder
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 500 grams kunafa
  • 3 cups liquid cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Preparation

  1. In a saucepan, place the milk, custard, and sugar and stir gently with a hand whisk until the custard dissolves completely.

  2. Place the saucepan on the heat and stir gently and continuously with a spoon until the custard thickens, then put it in a dish and refrigerate until completely cool.

  3. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and get a shallow-rimmed tray.

  4. Place the kunafa in the oven and flip it several times during baking, removing the tray every few minutes to turn it with two spoons until it becomes easy to handle and golden brown, then let it cool completely.

  5. Get a deep dish suitable for preparing the trifle.

  6. Cut the strawberries into the desired shape.

  7. Using an electric mixer, whip the cream until it becomes fluffy and light.

  8. In the dish, layer some kunafa, custard, and strawberries, repeating as needed according to the dish size.

  9. Spread the cream over the top, sprinkle with kunafa and nuts as desired, and serve cold.

Tips

  1. The custard can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
