Mom's Classic Turkish Meatballs
Ingredients
- 500g lean ground meat, ground twice
- 1 medium onion, grated and juice squeezed out (do not use juice)
- 1 handful dry bread crumbs or 1 small teacup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic
- A handful chopped parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Preparation
Put the ground meat in a large bowl and add the crumbled bread crumbs or bread crumbs.
Break the egg over it and sprinkle the spices.
Grate the onion and add it to the ground meat.
Add the grated garlic and chopped parsley to the same bowl.
Knead all the ingredients until well combined, form into balls by hand, cover, and refrigerate for 2 hours. If you don't have time, you can skip the resting step.
Remove the meatballs from the refrigerator, let them come to room temperature, fry in hot oil in a pan until golden, and serve with optional tomato, fried potatoes, and onion.
Tips
If you don't like too much parsley, you can omit it or use less.
The better you knead the mixture, the tastier the meatballs will be.
