Turkish Stuffed Meatballs
Ingredients
Outer
- 3.5 cups fine bulgur
- 1 cup semolina
- 4.5 cups hot water
- 1 egg
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt
Filling
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 750 grams ground meat
- 6 medium onions
- A handful of parsley
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon red pepper powder
- 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
Preparation
Outer dough
Soak the bulgur and semolina in hot water for 30 minutes.
Add all the ingredients and mix with a stand mixer using the dough hook.
Wet your hands while shaping the dough.
Filling
Heat vegetable oil and butter in a pan, add ground meat and cook.
Add onions and cook until they disappear.
Turn off the heat, add all remaining ingredients and mix.
Cooking
Fry in deep oil.
