Traditional Cypriot Meatballs with Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 3 small potatoes
  • 300 grams ground meat
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 egg
  • Quarter of soaked and squeezed stale bread
  • 1 teaspoon mint
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • Cumin (to taste)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Optional: parsley

Preparation

  1. Grate the potatoes using the fine side of the grater.

  2. Squeeze out the water thoroughly and transfer to a suitable bowl.

  3. Add the other ingredients and knead well.

  4. Cover and let rest in the fridge for about half an hour.

  5. Shape into finger-length pieces.

  6. Fry in oil until golden.
