Cypriot Beef and Potato Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 4-5 potatoes
  • 250 grams ground beef
  • 1 teacup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion
  • Finely chopped parsley (optional)
  • Red pepper flakes, red pepper powder, cumin, black pepper, and salt (to taste)
  • 1 teacup sparkling water

Preparation

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes and squeeze out the water thoroughly.

  2. In a suitable mixing bowl, add the squeezed potatoes, grated and squeezed onion, ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, spices, salt, and 1 teacup of sparkling water, then knead well.

  3. If the mixture sticks to your hands, add more breadcrumbs.

  4. Shape the mixture into meatballs, cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour.

  5. Fry the meatballs in hot oil until golden brown.
