Cypriot Beef and Potato Meatballs
Ingredients
- 4-5 potatoes
- 250 grams ground beef
- 1 teacup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 onion
- Finely chopped parsley (optional)
- Red pepper flakes, red pepper powder, cumin, black pepper, and salt (to taste)
- 1 teacup sparkling water
Preparation
Peel and grate the potatoes and squeeze out the water thoroughly.
In a suitable mixing bowl, add the squeezed potatoes, grated and squeezed onion, ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, spices, salt, and 1 teacup of sparkling water, then knead well.
If the mixture sticks to your hands, add more breadcrumbs.
Shape the mixture into meatballs, cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Fry the meatballs in hot oil until golden brown.
