Fried Arabic Sambusa with Meat Filling
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons corn oil
- 2/3 cup warm water
Filling
- 2 cups cooked ground meat
- 1 cup chopped parsley
For frying
- corn oil
Preparation
In a mixer bowl, place the flour, salt, pepper, egg, oil, and water. Attach the dough hook and mix on low speed until a cohesive dough forms. Add some flour if the dough sticks to the bowl.
Place the dough in a bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rest.
In a bowl, combine the cooked ground meat and chopped parsley and mix well; set aside.
Divide the dough into balls of your desired size.
On a floured surface, roll out each dough ball into a circle using a rolling pin.
Brush the edges of the circle with a little water, place a tablespoon of filling in the center, fold the dough into a half-circle, and seal the edges well using the tip of a spoon.
In a deep skillet over medium heat, heat the corn oil to a depth of about 2 inches.
Fry the sambusa in the hot oil, turning occasionally and pouring hot oil over them to puff up. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serve the sambusa warm.
