Korean Fried Tofu with Gochujang Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 block firm tofu
- 2 tbsp corn flour
Sauce
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tsp ginger
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp coconut sugar
- 2 tbsp agave syrup
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp gochujang (or chilli) paste
Preparation
Toss the tofu in a bowl and coat in corn flour, then pan fry with a very small amount of oil until the edges are crispy and golden.
For the sauce, in a pan over medium heat, combine sesame oil, crushed ginger and garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, coconut sugar, agave syrup, tomato paste, and gochujang. Stir until well combined and a syrup-like consistency.
Mix in the tofu and incorporate evenly. Garnish with spring onion and sesame seeds if desired, and serve with rice or noodles for a complete meal or enjoy on its own as a side dish.
