Qashtalia Toast with Syrup and Nuts

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of toasted bread

Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Qashtalia mixture

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup powdered milk
  • 1/4 cup starch
  • 1 tablespoon rose water
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom water

Toppings

  • 2 tablespoons almonds
  • 2 tablespoons pistachios

Preparation

  1. Bring a suitable dish for serving desserts.

  2. Crumble the toast and place it in the serving dish.

  3. For the syrup: In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and lemon juice. Boil gently for 6 minutes, then pour over the toast.

  4. For the Qashtalia: In a small saucepan, combine water, milk powder, starch, rose water, and orange blossom water. Stir with a whisk until starch dissolves, then use a wooden spoon. Cook on medium heat, stirring until thickened. Pour over the toast.

  5. Refrigerate for several hours until cooled.

  6. When serving, sprinkle with almonds and pistachios.
