Pyramid Knafeh Dessert
Ingredients
Knafeh
- 500 grams knafeh
- 1.5 cups ghee
- 0.5 cup powdered sugar
Qishta
- 3 cups milk
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 3 tablespoons starch
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 0.5 cup coconut
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 0.25 teaspoon ground mastic
Syrup
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Garnish
- Pistachios
Filling
- Dried fruits
- Nuts
Preparation
Prepare the syrup by combining sugar, water, lemon juice, and vanilla in a saucepan and bring to a boil, then simmer until slightly thickened and set aside.
Make the qishta by mixing milk, flour, starch, sugar, coconut, vanilla, and ground mastic in a pot and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened, then set aside to cool.
Prepare the knafeh mixture by combining shredded knafeh, ghee, and powdered sugar in a bowl until well coated.
Assemble the knafeh in a greased baking dish by layering half the knafeh mixture, adding dried fruits and nuts, spreading the qishta on top, and covering with the remaining knafeh mixture, pressing gently.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and immediately pour the warm syrup over the hot knafeh.
Garnish with crushed pistachios and serve warm.
