Toasted Bread Milk Pudding
Ingredients
- 6 slices toast bread
- 3 cups milk
- 1 tablespoon starch
- 2 tablespoons rose water
- 1/4 teaspoon ground mastic
- 1/4 cup sugar
For serving
- Honey or rose water
For garnishing
- Crushed pistachios
- Fried pine nuts
Preparation
Using a serrated knife, cut off the brown edges around the toast slices and cut the toast into cubes.
In a medium-sized thick-bottomed pot, place the milk and starch. Stir the milk with a whisk to dissolve the starch. Place the pot on medium heat until the milk boils.
Add the bread cubes and stir until you get a thick mixture like cream. Add rose water, mastic, and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
Pour the mixture into a serving dish. Use the back of a spoon to smooth the surface. Place in the refrigerator for several hours.
Garnish with pistachios and pine nuts. Serve with honey.
