Spicy Garlic Baked Tofu

Ingredients

  • 1 block (450g) medium-firm tofu
  • 1/4 cup soya sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp sriracha
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 1/2 tsp corn starch
  • 7 garlic cloves
  • 2 Tb oil

Preparation

  1. Press the water out of the tofu

  2. Cut tofu into 1-inch cubes

  3. Place cubes on a baking pan covered with parchment paper

  4. Bake in oven for 25 minutes with heat set to 400F

  5. After 25 minutes, turn the pieces over and bake for another 10 minutes

  6. Remove pieces from the oven and set aside

  7. Mince the garlic cloves

  8. In a bowl, mix the soya sauce, water, and sriracha

  9. Make a slurry with the corn starch and mix it into the bowl

  10. In a pan, sauté the garlic in 2 tablespoons of oil for 1 minute on medium heat

  11. Add the sauce mixture to the pan and stir until the sauce thickens

  12. Once the sauce is thick, mix in the baked tofu pieces until evenly coated

  13. Turn the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes

  14. Optionally, chop fresh cilantro and sprinkle on top before eating
