Black and White Marble Cake
Ingredients
White cake mixture
- 3.5 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 4 large eggs
- 2/3 cup corn oil
- 2 cups fine granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1 cup milk
Black cake mixture
- 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup crushed chocolate-filled cookies
Preparation
Place the rack in the middle of the oven and preheat the oven to 180°C
Prepare a tube pan and using a brush, grease the pan with shortening then sprinkle a little flour to cover the bottom and sides
For the white cake mixture, sift the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda on parchment paper or in a deep bowl and set aside
In the mixer bowl, place the eggs, oil, sugar, and vanilla then attach the whisk attachment and operate the mixer on medium speed for 6 to 7 minutes until the egg volume doubles and becomes light and creamy
Add the flour mixture alternately with the yogurt and milk and operate the mixer until a smooth cake batter forms
For the black cake mixture, pour half the amount of cake mixture into a deep bowl, add the cocoa powder and cookie crumbs, and using a wide plastic spoon, stir the ingredients to mix
Pour half the amount of black cake mixture into the pan, then pour the white cake mixture, and finally pour the remaining black cake mixture
Bake the cake for 55 to 60 minutes and test doneness with a small wooden stick, which should come out clean after inserting into the center
Remove the cake from the oven, place the pan on a wire rack for 5 to 6 minutes, invert the cake onto a wire rack, and let it cool completely before serving
