Slow Cooked Flank Steak Tacos
Ingredients
- 1-2 lb flank steak
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp coconut sugar or brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cayenne optional for added spice
- 1 onion
- 2 cups broth
Taco toppings
- tortillas
- guac
- cheese
- cilantro
- tomatoes or pico
Preparation
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Pat dry the steak and rub well with spices.
Heat your Dutch oven on medium high heat and add oil.
Sear the steak on both sides until nicely charred, about 3 minutes per side, then remove and set aside.
Lower the heat and add sliced onion, cook for 3 minutes, then add 1/2 cup broth to deglaze the bottom.
Push onions to the side, add the steak, and cover with 1.5 cups more broth.
Put the lid on and place into the oven for 3 hours.
Prepare your toppings.
Remove from the oven, remove the lid, and shred the steak.
Assemble the tacos and serve.
Tips
This slow-cooked flank steak can also be served over potatoes or other sides for variety.
