Delicious Homemade Vegan Pizza

Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 cups flour (360g)
  • 1 packet of yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Vegan cheese

  • 1/2 cauliflower (375g)
  • 3.5 tbsp tapioca flour
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1-2 tsp salt
  • *add salt to taste preferences
  • 1/2-1 cup non-dairy milk, unsweetened and no flavor (I used 3/4 cup)

Pizza sauce

  • 3/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp parsley
  • 1/4 oregano
  • A pinch red pepper flakes

Preparation

  1. Warm the water to 110-115°F (43-46°C) by microwaving for about 30 seconds or using a thermometer.

  2. Pour the sugar and yeast into the water and set aside for 10 minutes until foamy.

  3. Sift half the flour and salt into a large bowl.

  4. Add the olive oil and activated yeast mixture, mix gently, then add the remaining flour and continue mixing until the dough is somewhat sticky.

  5. Knead the dough on a clean, floured surface for about a minute, adjusting with flour or water if needed until smooth and soft.

  6. Form the dough into a ball, place in an oiled bowl, cover with a dish towel, and let rise for at least 30 minutes or until doubled in size.

  7. While the dough is rising, cut the cauliflower into small chunks and boil until fork tender.

  8. Drain the cauliflower, then blend it with tapioca flour, nutritional yeast, salt, and non-dairy milk in a high-speed blender, starting with 1/2 cup milk and adding more as needed.

  9. Mix the pizza sauce ingredients together in a bowl.

  10. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).

  11. Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface to the desired thickness.

  12. Spread the pizza sauce over the dough.

  13. Spread the vegan cheese over the sauce.

  14. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  15. Remove from oven, slice, and serve.
