Homemade Sourdough Pizza with Vegan Toppings

Ingredients

  • 120g sourdough starter
  • 200g plain flour or strong bread flour
  • 90g water

Toppings

  • homemade pizza sauce
  • morrisons vegan cheese
  • pepper
  • onion
  • squeakybeanveg tikka chicken pieces

Preparation

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a mixing bowl or a stand mixer.

  2. Knead together for five minutes. The dough will be quite sticky but it should form a ball. If it does not, add a couple more tablespoons of flour. Once the dough has come together, lift it up and then sprinkle some flour on the base of the bowl. Cover the bowl with a tea towel and leave to double in size for about four and a half hours.

  3. When the dough has doubled in size, line a baking tray with some baking paper. Sprinkle with a little bit of flour.

  4. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

  5. Wet both of your hands. Grab the dough out of the mixing bowl and hold in both hands. Gradually, loosen your grip and the dough should start to stretch downwards. Move your hands around the edge of the dough quickly, the dough will stretch and start to form a pizza shape. Once you are happy, place on the baking tray and stretch out any sections which are too thick or patch up any holes. Leave for 10 minutes.

  6. Top your pizza dough and then place in the oven for 18-25 minutes. The edges of the pizza should have started to go golden brown and the underneath will be cooked.

  7. Slice up and enjoy.
