Baked or Fried Falafels

Ingredients

  • 1 can of chickpeas, drained
  • 1/4 cup parsley, loosely chopped
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, loosely chopped
  • 2 tbsp mint, loosely chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1/4 cup walnuts (optional)
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 3 tbsp chickpea flour (or flour of choice)
  • 1 tbsp olive or avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp crushed chili flakes
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • a pinch of salt & pepper

Preparation

  1. Place all ingredients into a food processor and blend until you get a wet dough

  2. Shape into little balls

  3. For baking: lightly press the balls down to form patties, place on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees f for 20-25 mins (flip at the 15 min mark)

  4. For frying: keep them in a ball form and fry in oil on medium-high for 3 mins until golden brown
