Oil Free Baked Falafels
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups chickpeas
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/4 tsp chilli powder
- pinch of cayenne
- juice of half lemon
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup chickpea flour
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
In a pan, cook chopped onion and minced garlic in a little water until the onions turn slightly golden.
Add the cumin seeds, chilli powder, cayenne and cook further for a minute or so.
In a food processor, pulse the chickpeas, drained and rinsed.
Transfer the pulsed chickpeas into a large bowl, add the cooked onion mixture, juice of half a lemon, baking powder, chickpea flour, parsley and salt and pepper to taste.
Mix everything well together and add 1/4 cup of water.
Keep mixing until dough like consistency, adding a little more water if the dough feels too thick.
Form into equal sized patties or balls and place on a baking sheet or tray.
Bake at 200C for 25 minutes until slightly golden, flipping them half way through.
Serve and enjoy as desired.
