Baked Sesame Cauliflower with Sauce

Ingredients

Batter

  • 1 small cauliflower
  • 1/3 cup flour (can be gluten-free)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • Pinch of garlic powder
  • Pinch of onion powder

Sauce

  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 piece ginger (same size as garlic)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup vegetable stock
  • 1 teaspoon cornflour
  • 1 tablespoon water (for cornflour mixture)

Other

  • Olive oil (for spraying)

Preparation

  1. Cut the cauliflower into florets

  2. Preheat the oven to 180°C

  3. Mix the batter ingredients and coat the cauliflower florets.

  4. Place the coated cauliflower in the oven, spray with a little olive oil, and cook for 40 minutes or until golden.

  5. Mix the sauce ingredients together and add to a pan.

  6. Bring the sauce to a boil.

  7. Add 1 teaspoon cornflour mixed with 1 tablespoon water to the sauce.

  8. Reduce heat to low and stir until the sauce reaches desired thickness.

  9. Coat the cooked cauliflower with the sauce.
