Foolproof Oreo Crust with a Sinister Dark Center

Ingredients

  • 2 cups almond flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp charcoal powder (for color)
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
  • 220g dark chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
  • maple syrup (optional)

Preparation

  1. Crust

  2. Preheat oven to 350°F

  3. Use a large bowl to mix the crust ingredients

  4. Press the crust into the bottom of an 8-inch tart pan. Make sure it is evenly distributed

  5. Bake for 12 mins (or until it feels dry and firm)

  6. Let it cool on a wire rack

  7. Filling

  8. Boil coconut milk on top of a stove until it simmers

  9. Temper the dark chocolate in milk for 30 secs. Stir until you get a smooth velvety mixture. Mix in vanilla & salt

  10. Pour the filling into the crust and smooth. Use a spoon to even out the top layer

  11. Pop it in the fridge for 2 hours (or when it is set)

  12. Serve chilled slices of tart with flaky sea salt sprinkled on top
