Smoky Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

  • 2 and 1/2 pounds of ground sirloin
  • 3 slices of Applegate Sunday bacon
  • 1/2 of one large sweet onion, diced
  • 6 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons of smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons of sweet or regular paprika
  • 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of chili powder
  • 2-3 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 1 cup of ketchup, you can substitute with no sugar added
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 2 teaspoons coconut aminos
  • 1 cup water or more if needed

Preparation

  1. Sauté bacon and onions until softened.

  2. Add ground sirloin and cook until no longer pink, drain grease.

  3. Add fresh minced garlic.

  4. Add all spices and stir to combine.

  5. Next add tomato paste and thoroughly stir, to combine.

  6. Add ketchup, mustard, and coconut aminos and stir.

  7. Last, add water.

  8. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. You may need to add a little more water if you like a runnier consistency.
