Homemade Plant-Based Burger Buns

Ingredients

  • 300g flour
  • 1/2 yeast cube
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 150g plant-based milk
  • 45g margarine

Topping

  • 1 tbsp plant-based cream
  • 4 tsp sesame seeds

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix all the dry bun ingredients together.

  2. In another bowl, mix the yeast with the plant-based milk.

  3. Add the yeast-milk mixture and the margarine on top of the flour mixture. Knead well to form a dough.

  4. Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise for one hour.

  5. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and shape each part into a smooth ball.

  6. Place the balls on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

  7. Gently press down on the balls with your hands.

  8. Cover the tray with a towel and let the buns rise for another 45 minutes.

  9. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius with two-sided heat.

  10. Place a bakeproof dish with water at the bottom of the oven.

  11. Spread a bit of plant-based cream on top of each bun.

  12. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the buns.

  13. Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
