Immunity-Boosting Spiced Kahda Tea

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 medium cinnamon sticks
  • 4 cloves
  • 5-6 peppercorns
  • 1/2 teaspoon ajwain (carrom seeds)
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • a small piece of grated ginger
  • a small piece of jaggery or 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon tea leaves (optional)
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • juice of 1/2 lime
  • a few Tulsi leaves (optional)

Preparation

  1. Boil 2 cups of water

  2. Add 2 medium cinnamon sticks, 4 cloves, 5-6 peppercorns, 1/2 teaspoon ajwain, 1 teaspoon fennel seeds, a small piece of grated ginger, a small piece of jaggery or 1 tablespoon honey, 1/2 teaspoon tea leaves if using, and 2 cardamom pods, then boil until the liquid reduces by one-fourth

  3. Turn off the heat and squeeze in the juice of half a lime

  4. Serve hot with a few Tulsi leaves for extra goodness
