Delicious Bbq Black Beans Burger with Beetroot

Ingredients

Patties

  • 1 can (400ml) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 small white onion, peeled & chopped
  • 2 tablespoon chopped walnuts
  • 3 heaped tablespoons old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon oil for cooking

For the burger

  • Burger buns
  • Bbq sauce
  • Sweet mustard
  • pickled beetroot
  • pickled jalapeños
  • salad
  • sliced Tomatoes & red onions

Preparation

  1. Add the garlic & onion to the food processor and pulse until finely minced.

  2. Add the oats, walnuts, chili powder, smoked paprika, soy sauce, water, and maple syrup. Process until you have a fine texture.

  3. Add black beans to the food processor. Pulse until mostly smooth with some texture.

  4. Scrape the mixture into a bowl, set the mixture aside for 5 minutes.

  5. Heat a little oil in a pan and fry the patties on both sides for 4-5 minutes on each side.

  6. Halve the buns and grill them on the inside for 2 minutes.

  7. Brush the bottom of the bun with mustard and put a leaf of lettuce on it.

  8. Next, top it off with a pattie, tomato slices, onion peperonis & pickled beetroot.

  9. Spread the inside of the upper bun with bbq sauce and cover your burger.
