Heartfelt Valentine's Waffles: a Love-Filled Breakfast Delight

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup self-raising flour
  • 1/2 cup oat flour (blended oats) or sub for plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • Vegan butter/margarine
  • Sliced banana
  • Pan-fried frozen blueberries (blueberries, water, maple syrup)
  • Roasted peanut butter
  • Maple syrup

Preparation

Waffle Preparation

  1. Heat a waffle iron until it's ready.

  2. Add a bit of vegan butter/margarine to the iron, let it melt, and coat the iron's surface using a pastry brush.

  3. Pour the waffle batter into the iron, close the lid, and immediately tip the machine over. Cook for a few minutes, turning every couple of minutes until waffles are cooked.

Pancake Preparation

  1. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat.

  2. Add a knob of margarine to the pan, melt it, and coat the base by tipping the pan.

  3. Pour some batter into the pan. Once bubbles appear on the surface, flip the pancake and cook for a few minutes. Repeat until all the batter is used.

Toppings

  1. After cooking, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to create heart waffles.

  2. Top with sliced bananas.

  3. For pan-fried blueberries, pop blueberries in a pan with water and maple syrup. Fry on medium-high heat until the sauce thickens.

  4. Drizzle with roasted peanut butter and maple syrup.
