Crispy Tofu Nuggets Delight
Ingredients
- 400g smoked tofu (or plain tofu)
- 80g flour
- 100 ml water
- 120g unsweetened cornflakes
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Optional: 1 tsp brown sugar
- Rapeseed oil (for frying)
- Dips: guacamole, pea dip, ketchup, curry dip, garlic sauce…
Preparation
Press Tofu
Wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel to remove excess liquid.
Place a heavy pan, bowl, or weight on top and let it sit for 30 minutes.
Cut the tofu into slices and then cut out nugget shapes with a knife.
Prepare Bowls
In one bowl, combine flour, sea salt, nutritional yeast, water, optional brown sugar, and garlic powder.
In another bowl, finely crumble the cornflakes.
Coat Tofu Nuggets
Dip each tofu nugget into the flour mixture, ensuring it's coated evenly.
Roll the coated nugget in the crumbled cornflakes, pressing gently to adhere.
Fry the Nuggets
Heat rapeseed oil in a pan for frying.
Fry the coated tofu nuggets for about 3-4 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
Remove the nuggets from the pan and place them on a kitchen paper tissue to absorb excess oil.
Serve
Serve the crispy tofu nuggets with your choice of dip, such as guacamole, pea dip, ketchup, curry dip, or garlic sauce.
