Tofu Tenders with Oven-Baked Fries and Maple Mustard Dip
Ingredients
Tofu Tenders
- 1 block extra firm tofu, pressed for 30 minutes and drained
- Avocado oil spray
Batter
- 2 tbsp tahini
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp garlic chili sauce
- 1/2 tsp poultry seasoning
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 3-4 tbsp water
Breading
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs (can use gluten-free bread crumbs)
- 3 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 2 tsp dry basil
- 2 tsp dry oregano
- 2 tsp dry parsley
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Maple Mustard Dip
- 3 tbsp plain vegan yogurt
- 1 tbsp brown mustard
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Cut the tofu block into 16 equal pieces and set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine the breading ingredients. In a separate large bowl, combine the batter ingredients. Thin out the batter with a little extra water if it is too thick.
Add all the tofu pieces to the batter bowl and carefully toss with a spatula to coat them completely.
Take each coated tofu piece and place it in the breadcrumb mixture, tossing to coat evenly.
Place the coated tofu pieces on a parchment-lined baking tray. Once all the tofu pieces are coated, spray them lightly with avocado oil spray.
Bake the tofu tenders in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Then, flip them, spray with avocado oil again, and bake for another 10 minutes or until golden.
While the tofu tenders are baking, prepare the maple mustard dip by mixing the plain vegan yogurt, brown mustard, and maple syrup in a bowl.
Serve the tofu tenders with oven-baked fries and the maple mustard dip.
