Miso Maple Black Beans

Ingredients

  • 2 cans black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tsp tamari or soy sauce
  • 2 tsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp garlic chili sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp miso paste
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3-4 tbsp warm water

Preparation

  1. Add miso paste and 3-4 tbsp warm water to a bowl and gently combine together making sure to remove lumps

  2. Bring a pan to low-medium heat and add beans, tamari, maple syrup, all spice, garlic powder and 1/4 cup water

  3. Heat and stir and allow to cook and become fragrant, about 3 minutes

  4. Add rice vinegar and miso mixture

  5. Turn heat off and stir to fully combine

  6. If you want mixture to become thicker, lightly mash some of the beans with the back of your cooking utensil

  7. Stir to combine and adjust seasonings to your preference

  8. Paired my beans with broccoli, red onion, red cabbage, avocado and brown rice
