Steak with Peppercorn Sauce, Skins on Wedges, Grilled Vine Tomatoes & Peas

Ingredients

  • 200g vital wheat gluten flour
  • 35g wholemeal flour
  • 1 vegan OXO beef cube (or use veg)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp chicken seasoning
  • 200ml warm water
  • 4 tbsp tomato puree
  • 3 tbsp Worcester sauce (or soy sauce)
  • Coconut oil (for frying)

Preparation

  1. Mix vital wheat gluten flour, wholemeal flour, vegan OXO beef cube, garlic powder, onion powder, and chicken seasoning in a bowl. Do not add salt.

  2. Add warm water, tomato puree, and Worcester sauce (or soy sauce) to the dry ingredients. Mix well.

  3. Knead the mixture with your hands until everything is combined.

  4. Cut the dough into 4 servings and shape them into steak-like shapes. Cover each serving individually with clingfilm.

  5. Steam the steaks for 30 minutes.

  6. Remove the clingfilm and fry the steaks in coconut oil. Fry each side for 6-7 minutes.

  7. Serve the steak with peppercorn sauce, skins on wedges, grilled vine tomatoes, and peas.
