Cheung Fun Hack with Rice Paper
Ingredients
- 250g of your favorite mushrooms
- 1/2 tsp ginger powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 3 tsp teriyaki sauce
- a handful fresh cilantro
- 6 sheets of rice paper
Sauce
- 2 tbsp light soy sauce
- 2 tsp dark soy sauce
- 5 tsp sugar
- 1/3 cup (80ml) water
Optional garnishes
- chili oil
- crispy onions
Preparation
Fry the mushrooms until all the moisture is gone.
Mix the fried mushrooms with ginger powder, garlic powder, teriyaki sauce, and fresh cilantro.
Briefly dip each rice paper sheet in cold water and place on an oiled plate.
Add some filling to the rice paper, roll it like a burrito, and brush with a little oil.
Steam the rolls for 5-6 minutes or microwave for 1-2 minutes.
Garnish the rolls with chili oil and crispy onions if desired.
Sauce
Combine light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, and water in a small bowl and mix well.

This hack uses rice paper for a quick alternative to traditional Cheung Fun or Bánh cuốn, making it perfect for summer meals.
