Chinese Bakery Milk Bread with Syrup Glaze
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cake flour
- 3 1/2 cup of AP flour
- 2/3 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 pack of active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
Preparation
Proof twice.
Bake at 350F for 15 minutes.
Brush with a very light wash of simple syrup as soon as they come out of the oven to get the signature bakery shine and slightly sweet taste.
Tips
Use King Arthur AP flour for better gluten development, or bread flour as an alternative.
To substitute cake flour, add 1 tsp cornstarch to the bottom of a 1/2 cup measuring cup and fill with AP flour.
