Easy Chocolate Hazelnut Slice
Ingredients
- 100g (3/4 cup) hazelnuts
- 200g dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
- 1 Tbsp coconut oil
- 2 Tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 cup nut butter (almond or Nutella)
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
Preparation
Start by roasting the hazelnuts in a dry frying pan, shaking the pan occasionally to ensure even roasting.
Pour the roasted hazelnuts onto a clean drying cloth, fold the cloth over the nuts, and rub vigorously to remove as many skins as possible. Remove most of the skins as they can taste bitter. Set the hazelnuts aside.
Break the dark chocolate into pieces and place them in a microwave-safe bowl. Add the coconut oil. Microwave the bowl in 40-second increments, stirring after each interval, until the chocolate is melted. Be careful not to burn the chocolate.
Once the chocolate is melted, add the nut butter, maple syrup (exclude if using Nutella), and vanilla essence to the bowl. Stir until all the ingredients are well combined.
Add the roasted hazelnuts to the chocolate mixture and stir until they are evenly incorporated.
Line a loaf pan with baking paper. Spoon the chocolate hazelnut mixture into the lined pan, smoothing the surface to make it even.
Place the pan in the fridge and let it chill for a few hours until the mixture sets.
Once set, use a sharp knife to slice the chocolate hazelnut slice into desired portions.
Serve and enjoy! Due to their richness, it is recommended to cut them into small blocks.
Store the slices in an airtight container in the fridge. They can last for up to 2 weeks.
