Easy Homemade Vegan Smash Burgers

Ingredients

  • Burger Buns
  • Vegetable oil (for pan)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted vegan butter
  • Vegan Mince (I used @meatlessfarm)
  • Vegan Cheese (I used @applewood_cheese it melts beautifully and added a lovely smoky flavour)
  • Kosher salt
  • Sauce of Choice (I used @thevurgerco new vegan sauces which were amazing. The Smoky bacon was my fav)

Preparation

  1. Brush a stainless steel skillet with oil and set it over medium heat for 3-4 minutes. While the skillet heats, form vegan mince into very loose 2-inch thick patties. The patty should barely hold its shape. Generously season one side of the patty with salt, pepper and a pinch of paprika.

  2. Place patty portions on the skillet and smash flat with a spatula to form 4-inch-diameter patties (craggy edges are your friend). Season liberally with salt and pepper and cook, undisturbed, until outer edges are brown.

  3. Flip patties, season with salt and place a slice of cheese on top of each patty. Cook until cheese droops and burgers finished cooking, about 1 minute.

  4. Butter the inside on the buns and place (buttered-side down) on the hot skillet. Cook just until the buns are nicely toasted (watch closely). Set the buns aside.

  5. Once your bread is nicely toasted, you can begin plating your burger with the fixings of your choice and enjoy!!!
