Nutella

Ingredients

  • 285g hazelnuts
  • 120g dark chocolate
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup (optional)

Preparation

  1. First roast the hazelnuts in the oven for about 10 mins but be careful not to overbrown them. Turn them out onto a teatowel and rub together to remove the skins. When they are cool put in a food processor and whizz up until you reach the nut butter stage. You may need to scrape the sides down depending on your food processor

  2. Meanwhile melt the chocolate in a bowl over some hot water. Add to the nut butter and process. Add the cocoa powder and process again. If using the maple syrup add and process briefly. Leave to cool and transfer to a jar

  3. The thick version would probably make a great truffle or pie filling
