Quick Samanu with Wheat Germ Flour

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons wheat germ powder
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 cup grape molasses

Optional additions

  • Almonds (to taste)
  • Hazelnuts (to taste)

Preparation

  1. Toast the flour and wheat germ until the raw smell disappears, but do not over-toast to avoid bitterness

  2. Set aside to cool completely

  3. Add water and cook on low heat

  4. Add cinnamon and grape molasses, then stir continuously until the mixture reaches a consistency similar to halva

  5. Add nuts if desired

Tips

  1. Avoid over-toasting the flour mixture to prevent the samanu from becoming bitter
