Traditional Corn Halva with Hazelnuts
Ingredients
- 2 cups corn flour
- 1 cup roasted chopped hazelnuts
- 1/2 cup butter cut into cubes
- Sugar syrup
Sugar syrup
- 1.5 cups sugar
- 3 cups water
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon rose water
Preparation
Place the flour in a medium pot and set over medium heat. Stir with a wooden spoon until it becomes golden and fragrant.
Add half of the hazelnuts and stir for one minute to release the aroma. Add the butter and stir until it melts and is absorbed by the flour.
Carefully add the sugar syrup and stir quickly until it is absorbed and a crumbly mixture forms. If the mixture is clumpy, continue stirring until most of the syrup is absorbed and the mixture becomes crumbly.
Pour the corn halva into dishes, sprinkle with the remaining hazelnuts, and serve immediately.
