Thepla Recipe with a Message

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups wholewheat chappati flour
  • 0.5 cups gram flour
  • 1 tsp minced ginger &/or garlic
  • 1 tsp each turmeric, ground coriander & cumin (+chilli powder to taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • 6 tablespoons yogurt
  • 4 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • Handful finely chopped methi or spinach or coriander leaves
  • Rapeseed oil

Preparation

  1. Bring all the ingredients together and mix well. Slowly add warm water to make a soft dough.

  2. Knead the dough for a few minutes.

  3. Take a golf ball sized amount of the dough at a time & roll to the thickness of a tortilla.

  4. Fry in a little rapeseed oil for a couple of minutes on each side until cooked.

  5. Enjoy with pickle, chundo, curry or on its own.
