Vegan Almond Marzipan Nut-Braid

Ingredients

  • 320g flour
  • 1/2 cube of yeast
  • 40g sugar
  • 200ml almond milk
  • 125g marzipan (briefly warmed)
  • 100g ground hazelnuts
  • 40g soft vegetable margarine
  • 50g sugar
  • 50ml almond milk
  • 100g powdered sugar
  • Juice of half a lemon

Preparation

  1. Knead the dough ingredients into a dough and let it rise in a warm place for at least an hour.

  2. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. Knead all filling ingredients together until well combined.

  3. Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a square area with a little flour.

  4. Spread the prepared filling evenly over the dough.

  5. Roll the dough up into a thick roll.

  6. Cut the roll in half lengthwise and braid the two parts together.

  7. Repeat the braiding process with the other half of the roll.

  8. Place the braided dough on a baking sheet and bake in the oven at 160 degrees Celsius for about 30 minutes.

  9. Prepare the icing by mixing powdered sugar with the juice of half a lemon.

  10. Once the nut-braid is baked and slightly cooled, coat it with the prepared icing.
