Baked Mini Apple Tarts
Ingredients
Dough
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- a pinch of salt
Filling
- 2 grated apples
- a pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Garnish
- powdered sugar
Preparation
Prepare mini tart pans.
For the dough: In a food processor with the steel blade attached, place the butter, cheese, flour, and salt.
Process until a cohesive dough forms.
Shape about two-thirds of the dough into small balls according to the size of the molds used.
Place a ball of dough in each mold and press it to cover the bottom and sides.
Place the molds in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Place the remaining dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Using a grater, grate the chilled dough to get small pieces.
Set the middle rack and preheat the oven to 350°F.
For the filling: In a saucepan, place the apple, salt, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla, and cook on low heat for a few minutes until the apple wilts and becomes dry. Add the walnuts and stir to mix.
Distribute the filling in the molds.
Sprinkle the grated dough over the tart.
Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.
Sprinkle with sugar and serve.
