Malaysian Hainanese Chicken Rice
Ingredients
- 4 cups fragrant or regular rice
- 4 cups water
- 4-5 chicken thighs
- 1 large yellow onion, quartered
- 2 Maggi chicken bouillon cubes
- 3 inches ginger, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 stalk spring onion
Vegetable components
- 4 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons oil
Preparation
Mix all ingredients together, then place the chicken, onion, and spring onion on top.
Cook on low heat for 25 minutes or until the rice is cooked, with the lid on.
Optionally, fry the chicken to make the skin crispy or leave it steamed and cut as desired.
Vegetable stir-fry
Dice the garlic and fry it in oil.
Add the oyster sauce and fry briefly.
Add the vegetables and stir-fry.
