Apple Cake with Caramel Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups fine-grained sugar
  • 1.5 cups corn oil
  • 1 teaspoon liquid vanilla
  • 3 cups apples, chopped into small cubes
  • 1 cup sliced almonds

Caramel sauce

  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup liquid cream
  • 0.5 teaspoon liquid vanilla

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C, prepare custard dishes or a suitable baking dish, grease with butter, dust with flour, and set aside.

  2. On a piece of parchment paper, sift the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.

  3. In a mixer bowl, place the sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla, attach the whisk, and mix on medium speed for 3 minutes.

  4. Add the flour mixture and mix for 1 minute.

  5. Add the apples and almonds, stir with a wide plastic spoon until combined.

  6. Pour the cake batter into the dish and level the surface.

  7. Bake for 30 minutes, test with a toothpick; if it comes out clean, it is done, if there are crumbs, continue baking for a few more minutes.

  8. For the caramel sauce, in a small stainless steel pot, place the butter, brown sugar, and vanilla, stir with a wooden spoon until the butter melts, add the cream and stir, then cook on low heat for 5 minutes.

  9. Remove the cake from the oven, spread the caramel sauce over it, and serve warm.
