Apple Cake with Caramel Sauce
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 2 cups fine-grained sugar
- 1.5 cups corn oil
- 1 teaspoon liquid vanilla
- 3 cups apples, chopped into small cubes
- 1 cup sliced almonds
Caramel sauce
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 0.5 cup butter
- 0.5 cup liquid cream
- 0.5 teaspoon liquid vanilla
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180°C, prepare custard dishes or a suitable baking dish, grease with butter, dust with flour, and set aside.
On a piece of parchment paper, sift the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
In a mixer bowl, place the sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla, attach the whisk, and mix on medium speed for 3 minutes.
Add the flour mixture and mix for 1 minute.
Add the apples and almonds, stir with a wide plastic spoon until combined.
Pour the cake batter into the dish and level the surface.
Bake for 30 minutes, test with a toothpick; if it comes out clean, it is done, if there are crumbs, continue baking for a few more minutes.
For the caramel sauce, in a small stainless steel pot, place the butter, brown sugar, and vanilla, stir with a wooden spoon until the butter melts, add the cream and stir, then cook on low heat for 5 minutes.
Remove the cake from the oven, spread the caramel sauce over it, and serve warm.
