Chocolate Cake with Nut and Chocolate Decoration

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 160 grams chocolate
  • 1 cup butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups fine-grained sugar
  • 1 teaspoon liquid vanilla
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons ground nuts

Decoration

  • chocolate
  • white chocolate
  • ground nuts

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C. Prepare a pan shaped like triangles or a 13x9 inch rectangular pan by greasing with butter. For a rectangular pan, flour it or line with parchment paper.

  2. Sift the flour, salt, and cinnamon on a piece of parchment paper or in a deep dish and set aside.

  3. In a small pot, place the chocolate and butter and melt over low heat with occasional stirring until smooth, without boiling.

  4. In a deep bowl, place the eggs and vanilla and beat with a hand whisk until the eggs and sugar are well mixed and a light foam forms.

  5. Add the flour mixture and stir a few times. Then add the chocolate-butter mixture and stir gently until smooth and creamy. Add the ground nuts.

  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, filling it two-thirds full.

  7. Bake in the oven for 22 minutes. Test doneness with a small wooden stick; it should come out clean.

  8. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.

  9. Cut the cake into triangles and place on a serving dish.

  10. Melt the dark chocolate and use a piping bag to drizzle decorative lines over the triangles. Repeat with white chocolate.

  11. Sprinkle ground nuts over the chocolate triangles and serve cold.
