Beef Lasagna with White Sauce

Ingredients

Meat sauce

  • 400g ground beef (Ramly brand)
  • 1 onion
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 1 can Prego spaghetti sauce
  • Chili sauce (optional)
  • Black pepper powder
  • Salt

White sauce

  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 500ml fresh milk
  • 2 slices cheese (Cheesedale brand)

Assembly

  • Lasagna sheets
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Gardenia bread (optional alternative)

Preparation

  1. Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant.

  2. Add ground beef and cook until tender. Add a little water to speed up cooking if needed.

  3. Stir in Prego sauce and chili sauce.

  4. Season with salt and black pepper. Set aside.

White sauce

  1. Melt butter in a pan over low heat.

  2. Add flour and stir until smooth, avoiding lumps.

  3. Gradually add milk and cheese, stirring until cheese melts and sauce thickens. Allow to cool to thicken further.

Assembly and baking

  1. If using lasagna sheets, dip them in hot water briefly. If using bread, roll it thin and dip in milk.

  2. Layer the ingredients alternately: lasagna or bread, meat sauce, white sauce. End with white sauce on top and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.

  3. Bake at 150°C for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

  4. Serve immediately.

Tips

  1. Adjust chili sauce amount for desired spiciness.

  2. Use fresh ingredients for best flavor and texture.
