Homemade Crispy Golden Toast Bread

Ingredients

  • 275 ml milk
  • 75 g butter
  • 500 g all-purpose flour (or cake flour)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 21g fresh yeast (1/2 cube)
  • Butter, for greasing the pan
  • Flour, for dusting

Preparation

  1. Warm the milk and diced butter in a saucepan until lukewarm

  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt

  3. Crumble the fresh yeast over the flour mixture

  4. Pour the lukewarm milk mixture over the dry ingredients

  5. Using a hand mixer with dough hooks, knead for 5 minutes until smooth

  6. Cover the bowl and let the dough rest for 30 minutes

  7. Grease a 23x10 cm loaf pan with butter

  8. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly

  9. Shape the dough into a 25 cm long roll

  10. Place the dough in the prepared pan, cover, and let rest for 1 hour

  11. Preheat the oven to 180°C conventional (160°C fan)

  12. Place a heatproof dish filled with 500 ml water on the oven floor

  13. Brush the top of the dough with water

  14. Bake for 30 minutes until golden

  15. Let the bread cool completely in the pan

  16. Carefully remove the bread from the pan

  1. The bread yields about 10 slices.
