Vegan Garlic Bread Rolls
Ingredients
- 500 g flour
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp yeast
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 1/3 cup oil
- 1 cup lukewarm plant milk
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tbsp plant milk
- 100g softened vegan butter
- 1 head garlic
- 3 tbsp chopped parsley
- Salt and pepper
- Vegan cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Preparation
To a mixer bowl add flour, sugar, yeast and salt, mix. Add oil and milk.
Start the mixer on low speed. If after a minute or two the dough is too dry, add up to 1/4 cup of plant milk. Kneed for 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and soft.
Place in a greased bowl, cover and proof until doubled in size.
Meanwhile, cut the top off a head of garlic and place on a piece of aluminum foil. Drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. Close ends of foil over garlic and air fry on 200°c / 390°f for 20-25 minutes.
In a bowl mix softened vegan butter, chopped parsley, squeezed roasted garlic, salt and pepper. Set aside.
Punch the air out of the dough, divide into 9 pieces, shape into smooth balls, and cover.
Roll each one into a flat circle, top with a tablespoon of garlic butter and a handful of vegan cheese. Fold edges of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal.
Place all 9 rolls in an 8x8 greased baking tray, cover and proof until doubled in size. Preheat oven to 175°c / 350°f.
Brush rolls with maple and milk mixture and bake for 20-25 minutes.
Melt remaining butter mixture and mix in olive oil. Once out of the oven, immediately brush with the melted butter mixture. Enjoy!
