Crispy Fried Stuffed Olives
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup flour (AP / gf / buckwheat)
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tsp chili powder / smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- About 1/4 cup water
- Jalapeño-stuffed olives
- 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs (or blended cornflakes)
Preparation
Mix flour, cornstarch, chili powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a bowl.
Scoop out 2/3 of the mixture into a separate bowl and mix in the water to create the wet batter. Add more water if needed.
Prepare a third bowl with breadcrumbs.
Coat the olives in the flour mixture.
Use a toothpick to dip each olive in the wet batter and then coat with breadcrumbs.
Deep fry them for a few minutes until they’re golden and crispy. You can also spray them with oil and air fry them instead.
Serving suggestions
Serve with your favorite dip, such as vegan mayo with harissa.
