Crispy Homemade Vegan Coconut Bacon

Ingredients

  • 2 cups large flakes coconut
  • 2 Tbsp Olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 1 Tbsp Maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp vegan Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp tamari
  • 1 tsp mellow miso
  • 4 dashes of liquid smoke
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch garlic powder
  • Cracked pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Use convection if available

  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

  3. Whisk all sauce ingredients together in a large bowl

  4. Add in coconut flakes and coat thoroughly

  5. Spread evenly on the parchment-lined baking sheet

  6. Bake for 7-9 minutes

  7. Watch carefully to avoid burning

Tips

  1. Liquid smoke can be adjusted; less is often better to prevent overpowering flavor
