Egyptian Minced Meat Filo Pie
Ingredients
- 1 large onion, chopped
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Minced meat
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Coriander
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Filo pastry sheets
- Butter
- Oil
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
Preparation
In a pan, sauté a large onion cut into small cubes with some olive oil and salt
Add the minced meat and sauté well, adding the spices: 1/2 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon ginger, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, coriander, and 1 teaspoon cumin
Once the meat dries, turn off the heat
Layer the filo pastry sheets, brushing between every two sheets with a mixture of butter and oil; cut the pastry to fit the tray
After layering half the pastry amount, add the entire meat filling
Repeat the first layering process to cover the meat filling
Brush the top with the butter and oil mixture
Bake in the oven for 15 minutes
Remove from oven and pour over a mixture of 1 egg and 1 cup milk
Return to oven and heat only from the bottom until it browns, then allow it to brown on top
Remove from oven and serve
Tips
The pie comes out crispy and delicious
Serve warm for the best texture
