Spaghetti Kofta Bake

Ingredients

  • 250 grams spaghetti

Meat mixture

  • 500 grams ground meat
  • 1 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon mixed spices
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 large chopped onion
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon mixed spices
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano

  • parsley

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and prepare a medium rectangular baking dish.

  2. For the meat mixture, in a bowl combine the ground meat, chopped parsley, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, mixed spices, paprika, cardamom, salt, and black pepper and knead together to form a smooth paste.

  3. Take several strands of spaghetti.

  4. Shape the meat mixture into kebabs around the spaghetti strands and place them in the baking dish.

  5. For the sauce, in a saucepan heat the olive oil, add chopped onion and minced garlic, stir until wilted, then add chopped red bell pepper, chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, mixed spices, salt, black pepper, oregano, and 3 cups of water and bring to a boil. The sauce should be liquid to allow the spaghetti to absorb it and cook in the oven.

  6. Pour the sauce over the kebabs in the baking dish.

  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the oven for 30 minutes until the kebabs and spaghetti are cooked.
