Turkish Oven-Baked Saucy Meatballs
Ingredients
Meatballs
- 400 g ground beef
- 1 grated onion
- 7 tablespoons bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon red pepper powder
- approximately 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon cumin
- a pinch of black pepper
- finely chopped parsley
Sauce
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 onion
- 1 carrot
- 1 small red bell pepper
- 3-4 large mushrooms
- 150 ml cream
- 150 ml milk
- 1 tablespoon starch
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon red pepper powder
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- finely chopped parsley
Topping
- grated cheese
Preparation
Mix the meatball ingredients in a bowl and knead well.
Lightly oil your hands and shape into six large round meatballs.
Heat 3-4 tablespoons of oil in a pan and fry the meatballs on both sides until browned, then place in a baking dish. They don't need to be fully cooked.
Add butter to the same pan and start sautéing the onion. Then add the pepper, mushrooms, and carrot, and continue sautéing.
Mix the milk and cream, add the starch and stir well. Add to the pan, add the spices, and cook until thickened. Add finely chopped parsley and remove from heat.
Pour the sauce over the meatballs. Sprinkle grated cheese on top and bake in a preheated 200°C oven until the top is golden.
