Steel Cut Oats

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup steel cut oats
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • 1/2 a sliced banana or diced up dates (optional)

Preparation

  1. Add all ingredients except banana to a pan and bring to a simmer

  2. Stir occasionally for the first 10 minutes of cooking making sure nothing is sticking

  3. At the 10 minute mark add banana or dates to oats and stir to combine

  4. Cook for another 10 minutes until oats are tender and creamy

  5. Pour into a bowl and top with your favorites

  6. If you want to make the stewed berries, add berries to a small saucepan and heat until fully thawed

  7. Add 1 tsp maple syrup, pinch of cinnamon and salt

  8. Stir to combine and serve over oats
